At the 5th annual Country Music Association (CMA) of Ontario Awards in London, Ontario on June 11, Deric (along with co-writer Craig Wiseman), took home Songwriter Of The Year honors for “Came Here To Forget”, recorded by Blake Shelton.  The Bracebridge, Ontario-born singer performed a new song from his upcoming album at the sold-out Centennial Hall show, and participated in an all-star tribute to Canadian music icons Blue Rodeo, performing “Hasn’t Hit Me Yet” alongside fellow Ontario-born artists including Tim Hicks, Jason Blaine, Meghan Patrick, Cold Creek County, Rivertown Saints, and members of the rock band Finger Eleven.  This is Deric’s 5th  career CMA Ontario award, and his 3rd CMA Ontario award for Songwriter Of The Year.
